Product Information

Brand Chemists' Own

Description

Chemists Own Famciclovir (Favic) is an antiviral treatment indicated for recurrent cold sore outbreaks in adults with a normal immune system. While it does not eliminate the virus, it works to ease symptoms and reduce the length of an episode.

Cold sores commonly appear around the lips, mouth, or nose, beginning as small red areas that may develop into fluid-filled blisters which can be sore or painful. Many people experience early warning signs such as tingling, itching, burning, discomfort, or redness before a sore becomes visible.

Reactivation of the cold sore virus can occur unpredictably, even after long periods without symptoms, leading to repeated outbreaks. For optimal effectiveness, treatment should be started as soon as early symptoms or initial visible signs, such as redness or swelling, are noticed, as this is when viral activity is highest.

Directions

Use only as directed by your pharmacist or doctor. Carefully follow the instructions provided on the label. If you are unsure about how to take this medicine, seek advice from your pharmacist or doctor.

Begin taking Favic (famciclovir) at the first indication of a cold sore, including tingling, itching, burning, redness, or swelling. Do not use if a hard scab has already formed on the lesion.

The standard dose is three 500 mg tablets taken together as a single dose, unless otherwise advised. If you have kidney impairment, your doctor may recommend an alternative dosage.

Ingredients

Each Favic 500 tablet contains famciclovir 500 mg.
