Betadine Antiseptic Topical Solution 500mL

Betadine Antiseptic Topical Solution is a povidone-iodine solution used for antisepsis of minor cuts and abrasions and for the treatment of minor skin infections.

The solution contains povidone-iodine, which provides antiseptic activity against bacteria commonly associated with minor wounds and skin infections.

Active Ingredient

• Povidone-iodine 10% w/v (equivalent to 1% w/v available iodine)

Other Ingredients

• Citric acid monohydrate

• Dibasic sodium phosphate dodecahydrate

• Glycerol

• Nonoxinol 9

• Purified water

• Sodium hydroxide

Directions

• Clean the affected area before use.

• Apply the solution undiluted to the affected area 2–3 times daily or as required.

• The area may be covered with gauze, adhesive dressing or a bandage if required.

Warnings

• For external use only.

• Do not use if you are hypersensitive to iodine or povidone.

• Do not use if the neck seal is broken.

• Do not mix with other wound treatment preparations, disinfectants, detergents or chemicals.

• Avoid prolonged use or application to large areas of skin.

• Do not use heat prior to application.

• Not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

• Do not use if you have thyroid disease, including goitre, thyroid nodules or other thyroid conditions, particularly in elderly patients, due to the risk of hyperthyroidism.

• Do not use for 4 weeks prior to thyroid cancer treatment.

• If skin irritation, redness or swelling develops, discontinue use and consult a doctor.

• Keep out of reach of children.
